SelfLove365, Year 2, Day 303: Cheer! Cheer! Cheer!

I won Art Battle last night! It was my 7th Art Battle, and in the past, I have won some of my first rounds, but never won the final round. And, in typical Belinda fashion, after winning, I didn’t do anything to celebrate, at least, not in a direct way. I’m usually more inclined to be looking into the future at what is next for me to accomplish. I want to take more time to celebrate my successes!

SelfLove365, Year 2, Day 168: Excited

I love when the word for the day actually jives with how I’m feeling. [If you are new to the SelfLove365 Project, then I will tell you that last year I drew one square a day, with the theme of Self Love, and this year I write about the square that corresponds to today’s date.] Tonight I am competing in the Alberta provincial final for Art Battle, and the winner gets a spot in the National competition in Ottawa in July!

So, heck ya, I’m excited! I’m having trouble concentrating on any one thing, my body is tingling, and I can’t wait to start painting! The only thing left to do is dance!

Faces for Art Battle

I’m training for Art Battle yet again! Today I switched it up a bit and did some faces instead of hearts. I’ve done hearts on all my battle paintings, and I need a change! These are both 20-minute paintings, 16″ x 20″, called “Love me”, and available to purchase either apart or as a set. Contact me to purchase!

Art Battle!

I had a blast at art battle last night, at HiFi Club in Calgary. It was as much fun as the last few times I tried – great music, lots of people, super-intense energy! I will definitely do this again! One day I want to compete in the national competition! 🙂

Studio Tuesday :: 20-Minute Paintings

“I Love It”, 16″ x 20″ SOLD

It’s Art Battle training time again! Art Battle is a friendly competition for artists: we are given the paint, the canvas, and 20 minutes to create what we want/can. The audience votes for their favourite paintings, and the top 4 finalists compete in the last round. This year, I have my eye on the nationals!

Both of the paintings here were created in 20-minutes. Working this quickly allows me to let go of any critical voices, because they just don’t have a chance to take hold – my hands are moving too quickly! It’s like a really fast dance, with paint.
