Journal It! Giveaway

As you know from my previous posts, I am so proud to be a part of the new book, “Journal It”, by Jenny Doh.

I think you’ll love it too, so I am happy to give away a copy to a randomly chosen person (which means I get to try out one of those nifty random number generators. Cool!) I’ll sign it for you, too, if you like!

I will give you until next Wednesday, December 19 to leave me a comment, telling me why you would like to have a copy, or what you last drew in your journal, or something I don’t know about you. Give me something interesting to read, at least.

I will announce the winner on Thursday, December 20!

Am I the first to comment ? ohoh
One thing you don’t know about me ? hmm… when I was a little girl, I wanted to be a trapezist in a circus. I have never been on a trapeze though, but had a great fascination for what they do on this thing 🙂

I have always been fascinated by art journaling going back to the days when I was published in Somerset Studio Gallery. I “remember” Jenny Doh as the editor way back in the ’90s.

I’m currently working on some silly pages in my jounal. The theme being the song, “12 Days of Christmas”. For instance my first page is “A Partridge Family in a Pear Tree”. Needed some motivation to get my butt at the table in my journal.

I always hated journaling in school. I think I found the ‘dear diary’ written format boring. A friend has recently introduced me to art journals and i think this is a format I could sink into. Part pictures, part words, no lines, no rules, perfect.

I work at a domestic violence agency and in January I am starting an art journaling group for the women in shelter. I would love to use this book to share with the group, to show them they are all creative and deserve to honor themselves in this special way.

I have been drawing & painting since the first grade. My Mother has my first report card with little kid Doodle-people drawn on it! Ever since I could use my imagination, I have! Not a day passes that I don’t have my fingers itching to create! As of the past yr Art Journaling has become my newest additction! This book WILL be devoured by my eyes, one way or another! 🙂 A free copy would rock! ❤

Although I’ve had some off & on starts with written journaling I’ve never been brave enough to attempt a visual/art journal. It seems intimidating and “permanent” to let myself go on pages that are part of a book. I’d love to be inspired by the “hows” and especially the “whys” of these inspiring journal makers and take the plunge into creating an art journal!

The last entry I made in my art journal was on 12/12/12. I simply painted a background of bright/vivid colors, added some doodling and a simple title, “he proposed……again”. My sweetie proposed to me a few years ago and I said yes. Things happened and I called off the engagement. We worked out the kinks soooooo he proposed….again!

Whew, able to comment just in the knick of time! Came across your blog from Julie’s post where she reviews this book. Your art looks happy. I just returned from out of state where I was caring for my 95 year old father (he’s fine, thank you for asking!) and happy is a great place to be. I started art journaling in my 60’s and read anything I can get my hands on!
    Thank you!

I think the reviewer forgot one very important thing: “the same old stuff” is new to many of us as we are new to art journaling! I would love to have this great resource to reinforce what I have already learned, to learn new techniques, tips and tricks, as well as to be motivated to try anything–at least once! You should be proud for having been chosen as a contributor to this great book!

Hi Belinda! I just read Julie’s post about this book and had to come over and congratulate you! I actually “met” you through instagram (I’m a follower) and just found your blog. I love your work, the vibrancy and happiness of the colors, it makes me smile. Where have you been hiding? I love discovering new (to me) artists and will have to subscribe. I also can’t wait to get my hands on this book, one way or another. Chock full of great artists, congratulations on being a part of it!

I just came from Julie’s post about the new book. Congratulations. One of the latest things I did in my art journaling book is a row of houses representing my family coming home and expanding our home. LOVE IT! Thanks for the chance to get this awesome, inspiring book.

I have many colorful, carefully designed pages, but have yet to do any journaling. This book will be a great inspiration to actually write something. Thank you for offering it to a lucky winner.

I would love to win this book because of the variety of artists and techniques and styles in it. I began art journaling last Spring and am still pretty new with it, so this book would be awesome to have as a learning tool.

Let’s see,1. why I’d like to WIN this book. Because it’s chock full of fabulous artists (like YOU) and great artwork. 2. last thing I drew in my journal/sketchbook…a heart. I don’t draw a lot in my art journals, lots of lettering and paint and experimenting with textures, is what I’m into right now. 3. Something you don’t know about me…uh, unfortunately we’ve never met so you probably don’t know much about MOI, I was once a Dental Hygienist. There, now I’ve answered ALL 3 questions, do I get extra credit?! Thanks for the chance to win this fabulous book!
    Peace, Donna

    Belinda…

I’ve been admiring your art for awhile now. It’s vibrant, playful, and makes me want to dance.
Something you don’t know about me…
I like to put grated cheddar cheese on my pancakes, waffles, and french toast before I pour on the syrup.

    Cheers!

Your art inspires me, brings me cheer, and radiates joy. And, I started keeping journals in grade five. I’ve been sporadic for the past 7-8 years, but still have ended up with a trunk filled with them. (Note to self: consider whether it’s time to sort, collect, and chuck.)

I fell in love with your art when I saw it posted on Facebook. Such JOY! I run Monkey Hill Creative Arts, an initiative to enhance awareness of invisible and developmental disabilities through visual arts, particularly groups who pair those persons with visual arts outlets. I would love to create art journals (I’m an assemblage an mixed media artist, but have never made journals or worked with such painting/journalling techniques and NEED instruction!) to sell to raise money for art shows in the community for artists with invisible and developmental disabilities. My brick-and-mortar gallery is closing at the end of the month because they’re not renewing our lease and we have no money to afford a new place, certainly not at higher rents and no first-and-last reserves so we have to go to an online initiative. I would LOVE this book!!! Jenny Doh and yourself are GREAT inspirations of mine.

I just began art journaling a little over a month ago and am hooked! I love reading everything I can about it and seeing pictures of what others have done. The book sounds amazing and like exactly what I would love to be reading right now. 🙂

I have been restricting myself to only acrylic paint in my latest journal. I have been experimenting with various background techniques and trying to use color theory! I just hate waiting for the paint to dry!

So many cool artists in this boo–Who wouldn’t want to win it? I would try every technique at least once and then repeat my favorites while singing praises to the instructor/artists.

From what I’ve read about this book, I really want it! I’ve tried to take a look at it at Barnes and
Noble a couple of times, but they’ve drastically thinned out the arts and crafts section. It really sucks! Yes I can get books on Amazon, but I like being able to flip through them myself first. Anyway, it sounds like a great source of inspiration, plus it comes with the added bonus of journalling tips and tricks. Thanks for the opportunity!
